Can AI generate fresh ideas or perspectives on any topic? The thing is, many people are still unaware of how AI works. For example, while AI can’t currently compose a new song, it can create a pretty good remix based on the vast datasets it’s consumed.

What AI says?

AI can generate new ideas and perspectives, but not in the same way humans do.

A more accurate analogy would be:

AI is less like a composer creating music from life experiences and more like an exceptionally skilled DJ who has listened to millions of songs and can combine rhythms, melodies, and styles in ways that no human has previously thought to combine.

So when someone says:

“AI cannot create anything new.”

That is not entirely correct.

And when someone says:

“AI is truly creative like a human.”

That is also an overstatement.

A balanced view is:

AI does not create from experience or intent, but it can generate novel combinations of existing knowledge that humans may perceive as new ideas, insights, or innovations.

AI is not an inventor with lived experience; it is a pattern engine that can remix the collective knowledge of humanity at a scale and speed no human can match. Sometimes those remixes become ideas that even experts had not considered before.
